APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER

May, 2008

THE MORNING OFFERING

Lord Jesus Christ, you were totally obedient to your Father, always ready to do his will, always open to his call, faithful to the end. Through the power of the Eucharist, inspire me this day with a heart like yours, ready, open and faithful. Like Mary, your Mother, may I bring your love to those I meet.
And I pray with the whole Church for the Pope’s intention for this month:
That Christians may use literature, art and the mass media to greater advantage in order to favour a culture which defends and promotes the values of the human person,
and for his mission intention,
That the Virgin Mary, Star  of evangelization and Queen of the Apostles, may still guide today with maternal affection the missionaries, both men and women, throughout the world, just as she accompanied the Apostles in the early stages of the Church.

                  Prayer of the Heart
Sit down alone and gently move into silence.
Keep your back upright and your head erect.
Shut your eyes, and begin to breathe in and out gently.
Imagine yourself slowly moving down into your own heart.
As you gently breathe in say "Lord Jesus Christ" and as you gently breathe out say "Have mercy on me".
Say it moving your lips gently or simply say it in your mind.
Try to put all other thoughts aside.
If any thoughts or images come into your mind, gently empty the mind, while again focusing on the breathing and saying the prayer.
Be calm, be patient and repeat the process for no more than twenty minutes.
It is good to attempt two periods a day.

Acceptance
O God, we are one with you..
In accepting one another wholeheartedly,
fully,
completely,
we accept you,
and
we thank you,
and
we adore you;
and we love you with our whole being,
because our being is in your being,
our spirit is rooted in your spirit.
Fill us then with love,
and
let us be bound together with love
as we go our diverse ways,
united in this one spirit
which makes you present to the world,
and
which makes you witness to the ultimate reality that is love.
Love has overcome.
Love is victorious.
