APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYERAugust, 2008
THE MORNING OFFERING
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the "Yes" to all God's promises. Help me this day to say "Yes" to the Father's call to me, so that in my words and actions, in times of work and leisure, you can be present in me through the power of the Eucharist to heal, to comfort and to sustain. I offer them especially for the Holy Father’s general intention,That the human family may know how to respect God’s design for the world and thus become ever more aware of the great gift of God which Creation represents for us,and for his mission intention,That the answer of the entire people of God to the common vocation to sanctity and mission may be promoted and fostered, with careful discernment of the charisms and a constant commitment to spiritual and cultural formation.
1. Find the Scripture for today from the daily readings.Entering into Prayer2. Find a suitable place, a private spot to be alone with God. You must not be inhibited when you respond to God's presence.
3. Realize that harmony of body and spirit is important, take a peaceful, relaxed, meaningful position.
4. Spend a few moments quieting yourself - becoming aware that you are placing yourself in the presence of God in a special way.
5. Focus on what Grace or Blessing you most desire from God, repeatedly petitioning Him for what you cannot obtain by your own efforts. If you do not know what is needed pray for light. Leave yourself open and available to receive from God.
6. Read slowly the passage (or proceed with whatever method you have chosen for prayer).7. Try not to think but let the Spirit pray through you.
8. Pause and savour wherever you feel drawn or moved.
9. Ponder these moments with your heart as Mary did.
10. Respond to them from your heart.
11. As you come to the end of your prayer time try to make sure that your prayer turns into a dialogue with God. You might talk with your creator, or with Jesus, or with any of those who are present in your prayer.

O love eternal,
my soul needs and chooses you eternally!
Ah, come Holy Spirit,
and inflame our hearts with your love!
To love -- or to die!
To die -- and to love!
To die to all other love
in order to live in Jesus' love,
so that we may not die eternally.
But that we may live in your eternal love,
O Savior of our souls,
we eternally sing,
"Live, Jesus!
Jesus, I love!
Live, Jesus, whom I love!
Jesus, I love,
Jesus who lives and reigns
forever and ever.
AMEN."
