APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYERSeptember, 2008
THE MORNING OFFERING
Lord Jesus Christ, You were totally obedient to Your Father, always ready to do his will, always open to his call, faithful to the end. Through the power of the Eucharist, inspire me this day with a heart like Yours, ready, open and faithful. Like, your Mother Mary, may I bring your love to those I meet. And I pray with the whole Church for the Pope’s intentions,
That those who, because of wars or oppressive regimes, are forced to leave their homes and country may be supported by Christians in the defence and protection of their rights,and for his mission intention,That, faithful to the sacrament of matrimony, every Christian family may cultivate the values of love and communion in order to be a small evangelizing community, sensitive and open to the material and spiritual needs of its brothers.
In contemplation, we enter into a life event or story passage of the Scriptures by way of the imagination.IGNATIAN CONTEMPLATION
By this means we are able to recall and be present at the mysteries of Jesus' life.
The spirit of Jesus, present within us through baptism, teaches us,
just as Jesus taught the Apostles.
The spirit recalls and enlivens the particular mystery
into which we enter through prayer.
Just as in the Eucharist the Risen Jesus makes present the paschal mystery,
in contemplation He brings forward the particular event we are contemplating
and presents Himself within that mystery.Method
- In contemplation we enter the story as if we were present.- Watch what happens; listen to what is being said.
- Become part of the mystery; assume the role of one of the persons.
- Look at each of the individuals: What does he or she experience? To whom does each one speak?
- Enter into dialogue with Jesus.
- Be there with Him and for Him.
- Listen to Him.
- Let Him be for you what He wants to be.
- Respond to Him.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit
O Holy Spirit, All powerful Spirit of God above,
Take me as Your disciple;
Guide me, illuminate me and sanctify me;
Bind my hands that I may not do evil;
Cover my eyes that I may not see it;
Sanctify my heart that evil may not rest within me.Be You my God! Be You my guide!
Wherever You lead me,
I will go.
Whatsoever You forbid me,
I will renounce.
Whatsoever You command me in Your strength,
I will do.
Amen
