Apostleship of Prayer

What is the Apostleship of Prayer?

"Members of the Apostleship of Prayer should feel themselves called to teach others to pray with the word of God, especially those who have lost the habit. Christ is the Living Word who personally brings life and truth to every mind and heart. Meditating on the Sacred Scriptures helps the faithful to embrace the will of God with joy, and strengthened by the grace received in the Eucharist, to apply it to their daily lives.

The more one learns to inspire one's own prayer with word of God, the more intimately that person is permeated with the sentiments of the Heart of Christ. In this way participation in the liturgical life becomes extraordinarily effective. It will be the task of the Apostleship of Prayer to promote this lively participation, fully aware of its essential importance for the success of the new evangelization.

The new evangelization will also be effective insofar as it strengthens the bonds of ecclesial communion with the grace that flows from the Heart of Christ. The Apostleship of Prayer during the past century and a half has created a profound communion of prayer among hundreds of millions of believers. Nothing less is expected of it in the future. It should continue to induce as many people as possible to pray together to the Father in the name of the Son with the grace of the Holy Spirit for the intentions of the Church."
