Questions and Answers
Andy Zerafa, SJ, was an energetic seventy-five year old and had been a priest for almost forty years. . I know only a few people who can pack so many quips and amusing stories into a breakfast-table conversations!![]()
Andy had been a champion of reforms arising out of Vatican II insights. He was acutely aware that changes, however desirable, must first be accepted and assimilated by the laity if they are to work at all. He had an ear acutely tuned to the gripes of conservative Catholics and is always looking for ways of shifting their point of view.In this series of "As I See It" articles he looked at a lot of often inconsequential little hang-ups of Catholics of good will and offers viewpoints and snippits of information which make sense of a host of introduced practices. With them come eye-fuls of theological insight that should make even recalcitrant (that word!) church-goers take a second and more sympathetic look at change. Sadly Andy passed away towards the end of last year. So now I shall be bringing you some stories that I am certain that Andy would have loved to have related.
