July 15 - Saint Bonaventure
Bonaventure was born in Bagnoregio, a small town in central Italy in 1221. He went to Paris where he studied Arts at the University. He entered the Franciscan Order because of the example given by Alexander of Hales. After the time spent in formation, he also began to teach in the University. He was elected General of the Franciscan Order. By his example, and because of the biography of Francis that he wrote, a reform of the Order began, bringing it back to a deeper love of the ways of Francis. He became Bishop of Albano and also a Cardinal of the Church. He died on the fifteenth July in the year 1274.
He was elevated to the dignity of being a Doctor of the Church. He was given the title of "Seraphic Doctor". He was always known for his kindness. compassion, learning and eloquence.
