November 4th Charles Borromeo
On November 4th we will be celebrating the feast of Charles Borromeo. He lived during the Catholic reformation. He was born in 1538. Though only twenty three years old he was made Archbishop of Milan and Papal Secretary of State. Charles resided in Milan till his death in 1584. He often made journeys around his diocese, making wise regulations for the good of the people of Milan. He tried to encourage his people to live the values of Christ. He lived an ascetic life and strongly urged his priests and religious to do likewise. This provoke much opposition within his diocese. Nevertheless by his dedicated life he attracted many people to follow him in his reform of the Church.
